A Custom Kydex Holster Made To Specification

By Annabelle Holman

a very thick sheet of plastic cut down to size by using a circular saw, band saw, and a router. Other options to cutting are to bend, break form, or using a laser. A hot stamp and perforation punch can also be used to give a personal touch or added look to a custom kydex holster. Adhesives and solvents are avoided in bonding the plastic. Instead, an ultrasonic spot weld and mechanical fasteners are used to bond the hard plastic.

Holsters can for use in concealing a protective weapon. The casing for the armor is specifically made for either guns, magazines, or both. The material is also safe to hold a knife in the form of a knife sheath. The plastic is thick enough to protect the item as well as the individual from wear and tear.

Another casing is made for optional products such as a cell phone or a dip can. Concealing a habit or a expensive piece of technology is the goal for this case. The protective casing assists with not allowing outside moisture in.

The key to a perfect holster is the tight fit. The snug fit eliminates the possibility of loss and avoids breakage from a small fall. The least amount of gap between the product and the casing ensures it will not break free. Precise measurements are more plausible when the item that needs the case is mailed in and a mold is made.

As with options, many colors and designs are available. One needs to realize the color on the outside if visible to others while the color on the inside is not. The colors on the outside and the inside can be either the same or different. Some colors are solid and others are multicolored or camouflage. Some will choose a simple color while others will chose a different color for inside, outside, and edging. The choice is up to the creator which makes each holster a unique.

The location of where the product is to be held is important. Some areas to hold a holster is a belt, pant leg, chest area, and waist. Some people do not wear a belt and must choose an alternative location. Some locations are chosen due to preference while others use caution. The bulkiness of the item may control which location to chose. Concealing an item that is not bulky is easier to do.

Accessories can either change the look or design. When an enhancer creates a design change it needs to be taken into consideration prior to making custom-order. The colors will not effect the design but extra eyelets and fasteners will change the design. Other additions that change the design and size are the thumb break, sweat guard, and lights on a gun.

The most important decision to makes is if the directional use of the item matters. When the item is a cell phone or a dip can, directional use will not matter. If the item is a gun, one must take into consideration if the owner is left or right handed. The best option to choose is an ambidextrous custom kydex holster.
